Serena doesn't even have a CYGS, let alone a golden one. Steffi is still
the one.

As somebody who dislikes Graf and Williams equally, no Graf is not the GOAT any longer. Williams is.

She'll be back and probably win another slam or two. Who is going to beat her? Halep?

Don't argue with these dumb Grafans, they are just bitter that Steffi
was blown past. Pointless.

Stan is the slight favorite vs Murray but it's basically a toss-up match. Murray is smart and knows how to play Stan.

If Stan plays like he did today, Andy is toast.

That Thiem win vs Nadal was a best of three match in Rome when Nadal was tired after winning Barcelona, Madrid and MC. Taking three sets off Nadal on Chatrier is different endeavor. I doubt Thiem or Stan will beat Nadal.

As for Nadal beating Djokovic by such a score on clay, Nadal would have humiliated this Djokovic if they met at the FO. The score would have been something like 6-2, 6-2, 6-3. Djokovic tanked that match vs Thiem for a reason. He did not want to face Nadal. Djokovic knew he wasn't good enough yet.

I didn't see the Stan vs Cilic match but Murray is not Cilic. Murray is a completely different match-up for Stan. I think Stan is the favorite over Murray but I wouldn't be surprised if Murray won.

Can't disagree with you there. Murray is going to get way more balls in play than Cilic.

Didn't Murray beat Stan at the FO last year? It's a 50-50 match.

I hope Stan wins because I prefer his tennis style if he's serious and zoning.

I wouldn't necessarily go by that result. Stan was not in good form last year, and Murray was in his best ever clay form.
But yeah, stranger things have happened.

Yeah, Stan isn't a mope like Murray. The head-pointing thing gets tiresome, but he's Polish so must cut him some slack.

I am hoping we have some good matches in the semis and finals. This French Open has been the most unmemorable slam in recent years, not even a single quality match, especially on the men's side.

He's got weapons but normally in matches he ball bashes and has no plan B. That's been my problem with him in the past.

Did Thiem win the title yet? He has to beat Nadal and then Murray/Stan. I don't think he'll be able to do that and if he does, I'll be impressed. So far he beat a terrible Djokovic who tanked.

Absolutely. She fought like a dog for once. I started to notice an attitude change for the better with Halep a few months ago. Apparently, her coach Darren Cahill left Halep for a bit (after her loss in Miami to Konta) because he didn't think Halep was fighting hard enough. He only came back to her after she promised to not give up and better her attitude. You see what a difference it makes. This is her title to lose. It will be a monumental screw up if she loses it now. With her you never know for sure and it ain't over until it's over.

Yes, the new men's champion will be Rafaela Nadala. ;)

Svitolina basically gave the match away though. A choke of epic proportions.

Halep is more experienced at a slam level and she used that experience. Svitolina was zoning and Halep knew Svitolina's level would eventually come down. Halep pounced when it did. In the past, Halep would have surrendered easily.

Yes, until 2011 he wasn't as good as winning slam F's. But he still beat peak Nadal in 2011/2012. You can try and discount his victories over Fed but not Nadal given that they are roughly of the same age.

I've stated my reasons for disliking Djokovic a hundred times on this ng. I respect his accomplishments and his fighting spirit (although that wasn't on display in his match vs Thiem where Djokovic obviously and pathetically tanked the third set) but I dislike his game, his on court outbursts where he abuses ball kids regularly, he swears at the crowd in Serbian, he breaks his rackets, he does classless things like rip his shirt off like an animal, etc.

I find him very fake and too insecure when it comes to wanting crowd approval. Probably even worse than all of these things are some of his batshit crazy Nole Family fans although I know that crazy fans exist in all fan groups. They attack everybody relentlessly on social media if you say one good thing about another player and not Djokovic.

So yes I respect his achievements but he's dominated for four years and I for one am not broken up about seeing him lose. As fans we've all had to deal with our favorite players hitting a brick wall as they age. I'm sure he'll figure things out and make some sort of reappearance where he can win a few more big titles. But he isn't going on to surpass Fed's record. It's too late for that. A 30 year old player is not going to win 7 more slams. If Nadal wins the FO title on Sunday, I doubt Djokovic will be able to surpass him.
