Breaks for the stray careless remark or action, sure. But Hingis was intentionally mean and exhibited insensitivity often and to many players. Beyond that, though, remember that she was playing Graf in that match, and Hingis had repeatedly shown Graf disrespect when she was struggling to recover from injuries. So aside from Graf being a sentimental favorite anyway, that ensured that the French crowd would be on her side. Looking at the big picture, Hingis really brought it upon herself. I would have had sympathy for nearly any other player her age in that situation.

Hard to disagree with anything in this post. Hingis earned the disfavor
of the RG crowd vs Graf.

Still, crowds don't hit balls. She choked the match away, melted down
worse than maybe any champ of similar accomplishments ever.

Graf is the Muhammad Ali of women's tennis. So many great matches! This FO 99 final. Her fantastic win against then 6-time-in-a-row Wimbledon champ MN! Her heartbreaking loss against Seles at the FO 92. Alltime classic slam final wins like Wim 91, Wim 93 (Novotna!), Wim 95, FO 96!!!

Williams is the Vladimir Klitchko of tennis - she has an important record. But else ... ?

In 50 years from now people will remember Ali, Graf.
Not Klitchko, Williams (except in their home countries probably).

You and your posts are proof that she isn't.
Do really think in 18 years from now people will still talk about Serena in the media or in internet forums? I mean, really ... ?

My posts? Since Serena buried her, Steffi never comes up around here
save for when one loony-crazy doonkoff German Grafanatic mentions her!
And then what I do is say ...

BYE BYE STEFFI !!!! LOL!

Not sure I understand the joker enmity. He's not my favorite, I root for
both Fed and Nadal against him, but I have nothing against him and when
he wins it doesn't bother me at all. Why not? He's never done anything
to merit dislike.

No problems here with Novak, great player, won his slams fair and square beating Fed and Rafa!

Yes, he's won 12 slams against arguably the most withering competition
at the top ever. And he's done it without having a lock-down fortress
like Nadal has at the FO. At least since Borg/Connors/Mac circa 1980.

Fed had won 9-10 slams before Joker showed up, Nadal several as well,
but he's had to battle those guys, and Murray, his whole career.

Agreed. He's done some things that won't earn him many fans. E.g.
boring game, being too needy of acceptance. But that's not enough
to hate him. A player has to be a real ass to deserve hatred.

On a plus size, he surpassed Federer and Nadal in boat terms,
achieved some majestic stuff, so he deserves respect for that.

Those who viciously hate him, are mostly fedfuckers, nadalfuckers
or worse.

True, but Djok also won nearly all his slams after Fed hit the same point in his career where Djok is now (decline after turning 29).

"Pelle Svanslös" <pelle@svans.los>: Jun 07 11:40PM +0300

North Korea has blasted "selfish" President Donald Trump for pulling
America out of the Paris climate agreement.

On Tuesday, a spokesman for the isolated state's Foreign Ministry
described Trump's decision as "the height of egoism" ― and said it
showed the U.S. was "seeking only their own well-being even at the cost
of the entire planet."

"The selfish act of the U.S. does not only have grave consequences for
the international efforts to protect the environment, but poses great
danger to other areas as well," the spokesman added.

The ministry spokesman blamed Trump's "America First" policy for the
withdrawal, and said it was "high time" the world "stopped pondering
over the dangerous ideological trend which is surfacing in the U.S. with
the emergence of the Trump administration."

"Whoever chooses to blindly follow the Trump administration overpowered
by its bravado should be fully aware that the judgment of history shall
take them all as one," the spokesman added.

Have you changed sides, Pelle???
That is probably the strongest argument FOR the orange clown's decision until now!

A countryman is a fellow by definition, so 'fellow' is redundant.

Question to movie fans.

Let's see how good are you. I always wondered what movie was that.
The film I watched long time ago. I don't remember much but I
know it's some classic as it was on tv late at night during the
period they showed those movies.

Black and white I think, certainly 1900-1950.

It was some horror, something about desert, scorpions all over
some person and a scene were an old guy is rowing a boat in some
underground facilities, some canals, with no open sky. Maybe some
allegory to death taking passengers to the other side.

I think he sang too.

He is super talented. He has a huge backswing. Which means he wouldn't be as successful on grass and Fast hardcourts. He should do better at AO and FO

Keep it in play, spread the games out, angle the backhand, rip the forehand down the line and get a lot of strikes on the Rafa first serve... Rafa has to get as many Thiem serves onto the forehand for a first strike counter barrage, and move Thiem north and south with Rafa being a lot more accomplished in the front court... Rafa's return game a few levels better than Thiem; that will like be a key for Rafa...

Tough match in the offing for both players...
