...not only does the excellent Boston pitching staff have to wonder if the hitters are going to give them any run support, but now they gotta worry about about the Keystone Cops too. :(

How can they right the ship? Is it Ortiz, both at the plate in and the dugout?

Seems like they are in one helluva funk. My ADJOPS stat has them 27th in all of the 30-team MLB teams so far this year. Last year they finished 2nd after correcting for Park Factors, 1st without Park Factors.

It can't all be the Papi effect can it?

When this season got underway, I was looking at the shiny new penny the Red Sox had added to their team, but now, when I look at again, it has tarnish and some lint....:(

Maybe he can pull out of his nosedive. I hope.

AS ALWAYS COMMENTS IN THE LEAD OFF HOLE: LOTS OF HITS, RUNS, GOOD PITCHING AND DEFENSE ALL IN THE SAME GAME WHAT A CONCEPT. AND I THOUGHT NESN RECAP DID A LOUSY OF RECAPPING THIS GAME THIS MORNING SINCE THEY DIDN'T TELL US WHO GOT THEM RUNS 3 TO 6.

NOW TO THE GRADES IN THE 2 HOLE:
HANLEY IS THE STAR OF THE GAME NOT ONLY FOR THE 1ST INNING 2 RUN HOMER THAT GAVE THEM AN EARLY 2 RUN LEAD BUT FOR HAVING NO ZEROS AFTER TO HIS NAME IN THE BOX SCORE AT ALL.
BENRNTECI GERS A + FOR YJE 2 JITS AND 2 RUNS SCORED

My 2 cents: Rodriguez' pitching had a more positive contribution on the win than that of any single batter, and Marco Hernandez came through in a key at-bet that dramatically increased the Sox' chance of winning.
