I'm not going to be inconsolable like so many of these lunatic Federer fanatics. Some people live vicariously through Federer and other tennis players watching every point of every match he plays like their lives depended on it. It's ridiculous. It's entertainment.

> However, if Fed does win, I'll be rubbing it in the faces of posters like Whisper, Bob, Shakes, StephenJ, etc. :)

If Federer wins it will probably be his greatest accomplishment in
tennis. To be the stand alone Wimbledon king is huge.

If Cilic can play his best then he has a reasonable chance of spoiling
this for most people - I'd say 1/3. He can tee off on a lot of balls &
if the right ones go in he'll get a break, & then be hard to break
himself. Fed needs to come out with his very best stuff & zone in on
every point like Muguruza did.

The "fountain of youth" is probably just living a cleaner, healthier life than contemporaries like Boris "Goldfinger" Becker. And perhaps the Swedish genes too.

For sure good genes. All of that sun damage after years on the tour has made most of the players look 10 years older but not Edberg (and he has fair skin!)

Certainly, no one will question this decision now. Remains true even if he wins a third slam. Going for all four in a year might have had opposite effect and tired him out.

I said it was a smart decision then, and it obviously was. Roger came into Wimbledon fresh as a daisy and went through the field like a daisy-cutter.

The most important record for Fed now is another USO win. YEC No.1 will be great but holding the open era record at USO will be greater.

Not the same as public congrats. But hey, maybe they don't teach etiquette where Cilic comes from.

Probably, but he seemed to be injured no? But regardless, don't think he would have beaten this Roger.

Put it this way he caved in to even lesser player at Wimbledon six times in a row.

It's funny how your narrative only changes for federer, when nadal walked through the French Open a month ago and no one ever said a walk in the park then. Trump Supporters, always looking at an alternative reality of course
