You really should read your own cites. The history and name of the
program is detailed in the article as well as the mismanagement
by the Obama Administration.

Another nothing burger.

Actually the first wireless phone issued under the lifeline
program was in 2008.

Dene was not wrong.

There were no cell phones until 2008. Prior to that it was land lines.

That is when the started mass issuing cell phones instead of land
lines.

Not that this changes the fact that mobile phones weren't issued
by the Lifeline assistance program until 2008.

Only that it has become misnamed.

He questioned that there were cell phones at all during the Reagan
administration.
Wrong.

Then he stated that ccell phones were only for the affluent.
Wrong.
Not under this program.

So you're wrong too.

It could have been Bush Sr., Clinton or Bush #2, the article said that
it only became known as the Obamaphone during his administration.

I missed this last part before.

Totally a lie from you. Nothing was said about mismanagement by the
Obama administration, but complete mismanagement by the FCC, obviously
from the beginning. You changed the truth again.

Again, read the article. It plainly says that the program began under
the Reagan administration. Argue with Fox news and The Washington
post.

The cost has gone from $143 million a few years ago to $2.2 billion
today," Republican Louisiana Sen. David Vitter said, noting that today's
cost is 15 times what it was.

The cost of the program increased dramatically after cellphones were
added in 2008. Only low-income people on welfare and food stamps legally
qualify, but some lawmakers say the program is out of control.

The article never mention land lines doofus. And there were cell
phones before 2008, maybe not in the program, but available. Hell, I
had a car phone, complete with antenna, in the late 70s. Wasn't too
long before those hand held bricks came out. I never bought one of
those.

Can't understand how the FCC allowed this to happen. This article
mentioned pre-paid phones. That makes more sense....limit the use.

Like most entitlements, they are rarely monitored as close as they
should be. Fraud is rampant.

The Reagan administration provided financial aid for land-line
phones. Anybody with half a brain could have found that out in
about 10 seconds.
