Precisely. Since then, his slam performances have been quite consistent. The
bigger the stage, the better his performance. He doesn't do so well at the
'tuneups', where the 'smallest Big 4' does much better.

Wawa coulda beaten Muzza in straights had he played a bit smarter. He lost
many points by hitting to Muzza's FH instead of the open court.

It's credit to Muzza he hung around for 5 sets by basically pushing the
ball to the other side. The match was on Wawa's racket all the way.

Stan has never lost in a Slam final to Nadal, in fact he has never lost
a Slam final... :)

What a way for Nadal to put an exclamation
point on getting to yet another French final.

Wow.

Yup..not very smart play from Thiem, going for broke on this surface. Hopefully Stan does better in the final.

That's true of any Nadal match. Glad I'm not watching.

Stan will do better than Thiem but he won't win IMO. Let's get real.

As long as Nadal doesn't "tweak his back". Or maybe that only happens on HC. ;)

Nadal is the favorite for sure, but if anyone has the tools to outhit him on this surface, its Stan. Especially if he plays like he did the latter half of the fourth set and the fifth.

In two games in the second Thiem tried to moonball Rafa. Didn't work any
better.

What's a poor boy to do? Play like he always plays. Too bad to make
anything happen, he has to run more than Rafa does. I'm not sure that's
a race he can win.

Stop dreaming. Stan isn't going to beat Nadal at the FO when Nadal is in decent form.

I just told Stan this and he still insists to play the final.

What slam did Peter Noone win? I didn't know the old guy even played tennis.

I don't care what you told Stan. Stan won't beat Nadal. Nadal will wear him down and frustrate him and he'll start spraying errors. If Stan gets a set it will be a good outcome for him.
PeteWasLucky <waleed.khedr@gmail.com>: Jun 09 10:29AM -0700

He will need to find something soon otherwise he is losing in str8 sets.
Court_1 <olympia0000@yahoo.com>: Jun 09 10:33AM -0700

Why is that a surprise?

His plan A: hit hard
His plan B: hit harder
His plan C: hit harder than plan B
...
...

His final plan: hit outside the court.

What I am seeing is Thiem going for broke when the chips are down. Not going to work here. Nadal is playing too solid.

Yes, even though clay is too slow for Stan.

His kind of tennis (and Djok's) needs to go away, now.

On the plus side, Thiem is seeing a lot of BPs. Hoping he'll cash in.
