They can't go to the back doors anymore because:
1. too many people live in gated communities
2. stand your ground laws make it real risky
3. many communities prohibit soliciting without an expensive permit

But it is an interesting solution. Having folks knocking on your door at
all hours looking for something to eat or a place to pee. The
Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program costs us each about $250/yr in
taxes. For less than a dollar a day you can keep the rif-raf out of our
yards. Maybe it is worth it?

No, that's an assumption that money spent on healthcare should be
treated the same.

You show an absolute lack of knowledge of "when it worked".

No gated areas, people expected to help those in need especially those
who would do a little work and no permit required..

People knew not to be in your yard after dark, nature was a good place
to pee and (we called them Police dogs) kept the rif-raf away.

The point is that all the government interference has not improved
anything and costs (by your figures) $250 per year.

There are an untold number of things that work better now, but taking
care of unfortunate people is not one of them.

I'm all for getting rid of ALL deductions....get rid of the mortgage interest deduction, healthcare insurance deductions, everything.....

And in exchange for that have marginal tax rate numbers that are more reasonable(now that there are no deductions)

I know I would come out WAAAAAY ahead under that plan than the few thousand every year I save in mortgage interest/healthcare insurance deductions.

I actually don't understand this one though. Seriously, they are protesting against how other countries do things? I could understand if it was due to human rights violations or something but I don't think that's the case.

LBJ's war on poverty cost us most of a trillion dollars.
That is what you are avoiding.

So? It may not have all been spent effectively, and some folks are
always going to game the system, but we seemed to survive that (an the
current) social spending without too much trouble. What have we spent
fighting in Iraq since 9/11? And it is still a cluster.

What's great about this is that hundreds and thousands

That seems to exclude you and a few others here. But I do see some

Yoy are right for once - Trump did not have the motivation. He just
stumbled, and continues to stumble, into this shit due to his and his
staff's incompetence. He does not have a fucking clue.

I think Trump presumed that, after the election, everyone would want
to kiss his ring (or a spot on his anatomy). Libs have news for him -
and, once or twice a year they might be right.

Trump, like everyone, has things he would like swept under the carpet
- any possible efforts to win the election using outside help would
be an example.

I think he probably tried to persuade Comey to overlook the
possibility; I don't think he ordered him to.

It takes a lying sack of shit to call me a liar; I have no need to
lie. But one who calls Trump a liar may not be such human trash.

Unfortunately his predecessor set the most recent precedent for that.
Trump accepting that as his standard is a weakness.

Seriously? Yesterday Tillerson is trying to cleanup the Qatar mess and
the Donald is at the WH again laying it on Qatar for funding terrorism.
Pretty much the entire world knows he is a liar but his base in the U.S.
does not want to acknowledge that. You can hate Obama's ideology, but he
did not routinely make an ass of himself.

I won't argue over "order" vs. "hope." However, it does jog my memory to
recall one of my experiences while working when the chairman of the
board (of a Fortune 500 co.) made a suggestion to me. I did follow his
suggestion. His suggestion was made in the presence of a number of
subsidiary company presidents and other officers. Of course, I took his
suggestion.

It would not surprise me if millions of reports are confronted by their
supervisors in a similar manner on a daily basis.
