A hint - Nancy Pelosi and Chuck Shumer - both sad sack socialist
shits. Ergo Bride of Chucky.

Seems to me that the socialist policy is the problem, not Nancy per
se. Who would you suggest replace her - and why?

A 'very credible' new study on Seattle's $15 minimum wage has bad news
for liberals By Max Ehrenfreund June 26 at 6:01 AM

When Seattle officials voted three years ago to incrementally boost
the city's minimum wage up to $15 an hour, they'd hoped to improve the
lives of low-income workers. Yet according to a major new study that
could force economists to reassess past research on the issue, the
hike has had the opposite effect.

The city is gradually increasing the hourly minimum to $15 over
several years. Already, though, some employers have not been able to
afford the increased minimums. They've cut their payrolls, putting off
new hiring, reducing hours or letting their workers go, the study
found.

The costs to low-wage workers in Seattle outweighed the benefits by a
ratio of three to one, according to the study, conducted by a group of
economists at the University of Washington who were commissioned by
the city. The study, published as a working paper Monday by the
National Bureau of Economic Research, has not yet been peer reviewed.
On the whole, the study estimates, the average low-wage worker in the
city lost $125 a month because of the hike in the minimum.

The paper's conclusions contradict years of research on the minimum
wage. Many past studies, by contrast, have found that the benefits of
increases for low-wage workers exceed the costs in terms of reduced
employment -- often by a factor of four or five to one.

"This strikes me as a study that is likely to influence people," said
David Autor, an economist at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology
who was not involved in the research. He called the work "very
credible" and "sufficiently compelling in its design and statistical
power that it can change minds."

> I disagree. It's getting too close to the end of this Presidential term for Trump to be nominating Supreme Court Justices.

No, because the gop controls the senate(and hopefully has a bigger margin after 2018). If you control the senate, it is never "getting too close" to the end of a term. Heck if RBG passes away in late decemeber 2020 Trump will make a nominee and there will be a special session called that same day to approve it.

OTOH, if a democrat wins the white house in 2020 and the gop still controls the senate, it's already on day 1 of that dem president's term 'too soon' to it ending because the GOP will just block block block.

Until the dems get control of the senate again, the dems may never appoint another scotus justice. Which is fine by me.
michael anderson <mianderson79@gmail.com>: Jun 26 09:24AM -0700

I've seen calls for this lately, as if it would actually be a good thing.

We have far too much of this now.

The reality is that when I hear phrases like "both parties come together" and "common ground", I instinctively grab my wallet because I know the results aren't going to be pretty. There is far too much bipartisanship spirit in DC now. Hell, they all go to the same Georgetown cocktail parties....with the same think tanks, the same lobbyists, etc...

Also, another problem is when leadership of the party in power fails to have control over it's members. To see someone like Dean Heller going off and saying he can't support the bill unless it becomes more Obama-like. WTF? Who the hell is dean heller and why is republican leadership so toothless that these guys are free to speak out like this? The only way things can move in the direction of less govt taxes is if a small group of leaders/bill writers craft something and everyone is forced to vote for it. If every tom, dick, and harry gets some level of autonomy nothing to reduce the size of govt ever gets done....when non-leaders in the majority party create waves and speak for themselves, that's a major problem.

Well she is dating now a different guy...an older guy who is divorced with kids and is a human resources consultant. He makes good money(600kish) and is good to her supposedly, so I'm guessing they will stick.

It would not impact India. Freeloaders in this country supported by

I've always heard the IT field in general is one in which layoffs or downsizing(or age discrimination) is a possibility.

55% of the scholarship money goes to women.
In reply to me NOTBCS said 55% of the undergrad population are women.

What's to complain about?

Nothing, if you don't complain about the majority of salary money
going to men.

In a similar vein, black people want reparations for slavery and
discrimination. I am sure they could get a lot of people to back those
if that meant there were no more complaints going forward.

Major football schools have more thn 80 players on the roster - no
other sport has that many. So comparisons between them and teams of
less than 20 athletes are are absurd.

Why should a school be required to field a team, men or women, when no
one is interested?

Who in AL follows b'ball, soccer or baseball? But they follow women's
softball and gymnastics. A few follow golf and track.

I'm not setting Bama as the standard but other schools could insert
their sports that attract no attention.

I think it's just another liberal SNAFU.

The boom that was supposed to occur in South Texas didn't. When the
reverse pipeline was making headlines hotels in SoTX had about 120%
occupancy and our son's company was planning to contract management
rights for several - then BUST! They dillydallied securing contracts
fortunately 'cause it ain't happenin' yet.
