4 for 5 today and hitting .405, he's looking like a refreshing change
from the clueless outfield they've had until he joined the team. 11
hits in 32 at bats ain't shabby neightbor!

It's only a couple of games so too early to tell, but so far it looks
like everyone's been putting their high hopes on the wrong guy: Arroyo
instead of Slater. :-)

Giants haven't had too much luck with lower picks.

They may be headed for top 10 or even top 5 picks in the next draft
though ...

Of course if they do draft someone that high, they have to pay a high
enough bonus to get them to sign, especially high schoolers.

Would be interesting to see how much they spend on the minor league
organization compared to other teams.

All t he teams have to pay the bonus. This isn't a Baalke exercise,
right?

That's still chump change in the mlb these days, where even mediocre
veterans often get 10M+/yr.
Jon Rossen <jonr17@comcast.net>: Jun 15 04:37PM -0700

I bet they can't wait to get all those fat gopher-ball 'mistake' pitches
from all the characters on the Giants pitching staff.

I predict the composite run total for all 4 games will be: Rockies 40 to
Giants 5. Seriously...this could easily happen.

Pretty damn accurate so far, jon. The Rockies only have 8 runs so far
and in four games, that projects to 32 runs ... Next up, Samardzija
2-8.

40 runs might be low considering both HR Derby twins will be pitching
in this series. Samardzija's actually been very good lately but this
is still Coors so his streak might end, and Cain...OMG... Vegas should
start taking bets on how many innings he'll last or how many HR he'll
give up. I can see him shaking and sweating already even though his
start is still 2 days away. If Cain were smart, he should fake having
a flu, or get on a dirt bike *now*! ;-)
Awesome Giants <Giants@sf.giants>: Jun 16 07:25AM

Seriously, 3 guys batting .300 in the lineup today!!! I don't know
when was the last time that happened on this team. I'm guessing the
1st week of the season since the season opener series was at AZ. Other
than that, you might have to go way back to the 1st half of last
season, or even further back.
Awesome Giants <Giants@sf.giants>: Jun 16 07:24AM

Why the F*** would you keep on pitching to the one guy who has torched
you every year for years??? This is not an IQ test.
John Walsh <jwalsh589@gmail.com>: Jun 15 04:30PM -1000

The standard line from MLB writes is about Giants' pitchers trying to
find their groove and Moore found his, as usual. 3 earned runs in the
1st inning and he's donating more runs to the Rockies right now.

A walk, a single and a double give the Rockies 2 more runs and the
inning isn't exactly over yetl Yowza, another run for the Rockies.
The dumb SOB throws one right down the middle and a .250 hitter could
miss, single for the Rockies and another run.

Another minute and Moore's ERA will be over 6.00 (5.99 right now)
Posey's wracking up throwing errors on Moore's wild pitches. 60 damn
pitches in 2 damn innings.

What the hell, it's only 1 run and that's all Moore has given up since
the disasterous two innings name Moore 1 and Moore 2. Much will be
made of his awesome 7 strikeouts, but that's just fluff when you can't
make it thru 4 innings without burying your team under and avalance of
runs.

The Giant's finally get more runs when Buster goes yard and drives in
Hernandez. The only down size is the injury to Nunez and Hernandez in
the lineup. Belt and Pence continue to waste space in the batting
order.

Span wakes up and homers in the top of the 8th. Crawford singles and
Hernandez erases him with one swing. That brings up the enigma that is
Brandon Belt. He walks and there's no Buster in the lineup because
took him out with a foot injury.

Blach singles in Belt for the 5th Giants' run. 1 fucking pitch and
Pence lines out to center. No need to waste any time making the
pitcher work, perhaps for a better pitch .. oh no, not Pence.

Crawford jumps on a perfect pitch and knocks it out of the park,
driving in Blach. The Giants are now out hitting the Rocks 14-13 and
just one run behind.

Runs on 1st and 3rd, 1 out and it's up to Gorkys "Mendoza" Hernandez
to drive in the tying run. Wild pitch, runners at 2nd and 3rd. Sac fly
brings in Slater and it's a tie game.

Boch rolling the dice with Samardzija batting for Span (damn, hope
Span isn't hurt, again).

when did span homer?
John Walsh <jwalsh589@gmail.com>: Jun 15 05:10PM -1000

... and he come up injured. What do the Giants do? They replace him
with that lump of a baseball player, Gorkys "Mendoza" Hernandez.
That's a double injury.

Posey out with a foot injury and for whatever reason in Bochy's mind,
Samardzija batting for Span.

samardzija batted in the 4th slot notfor span. span out on a call that could have gone either way. if that run scores melancon would have been the guy to blow the save

giants left 9
men on in the first 5 innings, posey and nunez hurt, lost the game in the first 5 innings. slater's production would have been better higher up in the line up.
