A deal-making president with no ties or political investment in past policy decisions. As a bonus, he has aparty that will gleefully abandon its supposedly long-cherished principles to support him. Given those tools, what could he do about North Korea?

We know the Chinese prop up North Korea for two main reasons: they don't want millions of starving Nork refugees flooding into their country, and they don't want a Western democracy right on their border. Plus South Korea isn't keen on unification because they saw what it cost West Germany, and North Korea is even more of a basket case than East Germany was.

What if Trump told the Chinese: let's make a deal. If you take over N. Korea and occupy it, we not only won't object but we'll tacitly support you, maybe even help you pay for it. You secure the nukes, keep a lid on the country however you want, and we'll keep the food aid coming.

What happens to Kim Jong-un and the rest of the WPK politburo in your scenario?

This is from 2013. I found it interesting because I was a carrier
sailor in 1945-46 in the Western Pacific.

I must admit I never saw TV or computers on board, CiC was maybe a
half-dozen men, no drones and no jet planes, no canted flight deck (no
escalators or women either).

I think Ford, Carnegie and Rockefeller were myths because they didn't
even have computers.

They've always been hoping to blow up planes. They always will hope to blow up planes. Who "They" is will evolve over time but it will always be so.

It'll be interesting to see how the combination of mandatory checking of laptops + baggage fees + crooked baggage handlers plays out. I may be going to Europe for business this fall and I always pack light and never check bags.

Computers without a source of current - what will they think of next!

I learned to use a log log duplex. Do those things still exist?

Well that did it. Your single word response "Incorect" converted me and changed my whole world view. Well done!
plaidmoon@gmail.com: May 11 07:01AM -0700

This whole thread has been a Monty Python sketch.

"Yes it is."

"No it isn't."

"Yes it is."

"No it isn't."

"This isn't the quality of argument I was paying for."

"Oh, you want an argument? That's down the hall. This is the contadiction department."

The funny thing is, I recall many times someone will pull a "No it isn't" argument on Press and he'll start demanding proof and research. Or he'll start arguing semantics.

You are beginning to show some possibilities of recovering from the

Kinda like the meme libraloons were spreading after our election, "Congratulations to the new leader of the free world" under a picture of Angela Merkel.

I looked at Ireland when I first started genealogy more than 20 years
ago. The first Sullivan was born there about 862 after the McCarthy
split.

Once I YDNA tested I abandoned Ireland because it was settled by R1b
Haplogroup and I am R1a1a1a. My DNA went to England and the
Scandanavian countries (the Viking homeland) but I am not a Viking.

HOW GERMAN ARE YOU?
Source: Ancestry.com
Historians suspect that other invaders, such as the Romans and Danish
Vikings, didn't intermingle with the native population or didn't bring
enough of their own people to make an appreciable difference in the
long-term ethnic makeup of an entire country.
For people living in southern and central England, it's true that 40
percent of their DNA comes from the French. But that French connection
doesn't come from any known French invasion force, such as the
Normans, who took over England after the Battle of Hastings in 1066.
The French contribution to British DNA probably results from migration
from the continent 10,000 years ago, just after the last Ice Age - and
long predating anything resembling a military invasion.
Danes also contributed 11 percent of the DNA of a modern British
person, while Belgians contributed 9 percent.

Uninformed as in you're a complete boob who doesn't have a clue to what you're talking about.
