For some reason I find it strage why some in this NG always seem to find the
bad in a player and constantly pound them over and over yet when these very
same players outperform themselves, not a peep. Yes, everyone has the right to
bitch and moan over the way the team started but dear God, they're 7-1 in their
last eight, they've shown resilence where rolling over and playing dead when
down by a few in the 8th was the norm. It's mid-May and there's enough time to
get things worked out.

BTW.. kudos to Smargeja for last night's performance and to Arroyo. He could
hit .220 for all I care as long as he's coming up big in the clutch.

Just a little comparison..

Willie Mays 1952 stats before he left for the Service...

Let's give this kid a chance at the plate. He certainly knows what he's doing
in the field.

Late innings are turning into a good thing for the Giants and none
better than tonight's scoreless game in the 13th inning.

With the bases loaded, Arroyo worked Siegrist for a double off the
wall and the Giants score with Buster and Crawford crossing the plate.
Hundley sacrificed in Nunez for the 3rd run.

Giants 3 Cards 0

Melancon closes it out with 1 run and save, Strickland gets the win.
That's two straight wins on the road for the Giants. Solid!

Arroyo passes Buster in the RBI race with 12.
Its pathetic the leader(Belt) has only 18.

The whole team was in the dumps, not generating hit or runs. The RBI
totals are understandable. Belt is so one-dimensional as a hitter that
it's become annoying to watch hit against that ridiculous shift. Smart
batters adjust and aim for the open side. Belt can't or won't do it.

There are teams with at least 3 guys with more than 30 RBI.

It's not going to change anything. They Giants got stuck in a bad rut
and they are slowly climbing out of it. Good pitching helps a lot and
they've had that for the last two weeks.

First Piscotti swung at a pitch and they called it a no swing. He went a lot further on that pitch than several giants called out this year. Then he puts a ball over the plate, a pitch that has been called a strike all night, called a ball, then he gets a hit. The umps can really make a difference. This game was won twice at 3-0 umps refuse to let giants win.

finally we win 3-1 instead of 3-0 almost had our first shutout.

A win is a win, and it's the second straight win on the road. Other
than Oshit, the bullpen did fine and the Giants woke up at the right
time. Belt should be horse whipped for being so one dimensional.
ariess@bellsouth.net: May 20 03:56PM -0700

both of them are scoring more runs than the giants usually score in a week.

That used to be the norm for the Mays era teams. The Reds and Cubs
games on the roads used to be slugfests.
John Walsh <jwalsh589@gmail.com>: May 20 03:31PM -1000

... and as you might guess, he's getting absolutely no support from
the batting order. He went 8 innings, struck out 8, gave up 5 hits. He
deserves better, so hopefully the bullpen won't screw this up.

The Giants are swinging at everything, making it real easy for
Martinez.

Oshit relieves Samardzija and in the space of four pitches, gives up a
***king double that Carpernter tried to stretch into a triple. THrown
out by Nunez. Boch goes to Law and if he's smart, he'll send Oshit to
Sacramento. You can't have a reliever with a damn 4.50 ERA.

Giants did manage to muster up enough runs for the comeback win. Good job on the road.
