Racism In America: 'Kill Obama' And 'Muslims Not Welcome Here' Signs In New Mexico Draw Criticism

By Cristina Silva @cristymsilva On 12/31/16 AT 1:18 PM

The nation's leading Muslim civil rights advocacy group has demanded a New Mexico convenience store remove a sign that reads "Obama & other Muslims Not welcome here." The store previously displayed a sign that ready "Kill Obama." It also sells the signs to customers.

The Council on American-Islamic Relations said the not welcome sign was anti-Muslim and anti-President Barack Obama. Obama is Christian, but critics often claim he is Muslim.

"While everyone has the First Amendment right to free speech – even offensive speech – we urge the store's owner to remove the sign in the interest of common decency and of our nation's unity at a time of increasing divisions," said CAIR National Communications Director Ibrahim Hooper.

The sign has been called offensive and racist by customers on Facebook who also demanded the Mayhill, New Mexico, store owner reconsider the sign.

"It shapes up as another dramatic shakeup for the 49ers in which CEO Jed York and Executive Vice President Paraag Marathe will lead the search for replacements."

With York and Marathe in charge of finding a new GM and HC, there's no reason to hope that things will improve. They should be in charge of finding a guy to run football operations, and delegate the hiring of a GM to him.

While we're watching him make faces and dance around, we'll be ignoring what is going on in the background. Pence, Ryan and McConnell will be doing their magic acts while we have our eyes focused on the clown. One of the big worries I have is that the dominionist fundamentalists who have wormed their way into our Congress will push legislation through that moves the nation closer to a theocracy and confirm Supreme Court Justices who will find that legislation meets constitutional tests.

Don't be distracted by the funny clown at the center of the stage. Over on stage right, there is stuff going on that is really, really important. Keep your eye on the people for whom Trump is the distraction that lets them do their sleight of hand maneuvers.

There's some scary stuff about to appear. Watch for it and don't focus totally on the buffoon on the stage. Watch out for the players doing tricks elsewhere on the stage. That's where things are really happening. Your rights may depend on it.

Well, starting to look like my headline was right but the teams were not as I had said. Northwestern and Minnesota, the two that I thought were least likely, the only teams to win so far. Michigan came back to make a narrow game but Florida State just looked so much more athletic. And Ohio State is even further away from Clemson than Washington was from Alabama.

Can Wisconsin and Penn State actually salvage the Big Ten on Monday?

That's what they were saying on HNIC. If he's operated on he could be
out a long time. Not good for PK. He deserves a better fate.
Mike <mike@gmail.com>: Dec 31 11:40AM -0400

Watching the kid at the centre position has been revealing. It looks to
me like Bergy landed a good one with him and you have to tip your hat.
I'm not saying he's a #1 centre, far from it. But I do believe he'll
make a good #2/#3 centre. He has size, can take a faceoff, isn't afraid
to muck it up and hit and he can score the odd one now and again - in
short he's everything DD isn't and that brings me to my point.

Why has Danault suddenly developed at centre? The answer is simple -
because Therrien had no choice with Galchenyuk and DD out. Its like
Groundhog Day for this coach no? Didn't the same thing happen last year?
DD goes down, suddenly MT has no choice but to go with Galchenyuk and lo
and behold, look what happens. Why, he's a #1 centre. Of course MT knew
it all along he said. Was just waiting for the right time. Uh-huh, ok.
How long before he trots out the same BS with Danault. We'll hear all
about how thats why they went after him, knew he could play centre but
he didn't want to put undue pressure on him and he knew, he just knew
now was the time.

Its kind of funny/galling to watch players develop not BECAUSE of Michel
Therrien but DESPITE him. That's our coach - the genius developer of
young players.
