Bucks-Lakers Preview (20150227)
By TAYLOR BECHTOLD Posted Feb 27 2015 9:45AM

While their new point guard helped the Milwaukee Bucks avoid matching their
worst skid of the season, the Los Angeles Lakers' emerging playmaker has
them looking to equal their longest winning streak.

Michael Carter-Williams tries to guide the Bucks to another win when they
open a four-game western trip Friday night against Jordan Clarkson and the
Lakers, who seek a third straight victory.

After missing his first three games with Milwaukee because of a right foot
strain, Carter-Williams made an immediate impact with seven points and
eight assists in Wednesday's 104-88 home win over Philadelphia.

The 2013-14 Rookie of the Year averaged 15.0 points, 7.4 assists and 6.2
rebounds in 41 games with the 76ers before getting shipped to the Bucks
(32-25) in a three-team deal completed minutes before last Thursday's trade
deadline.

"(My teammates) make it easy for me," said Carter-Williams, who was limited
to 17 minutes. "My job is just to run the plays and find them and get into
the lane. It's fun. I'm having a great time. (My foot) felt good."

Milwaukee averaged 82.0 points and shot 39.9 percent while playing without
a true point guard over its previous three games. Carter-Williams helped
changed that as the Bucks averted their first three-game losing streak
since Nov. 29-Dec. 3 by shooting 53.7 percent.

Guard Khris Middleton continued his strong play with 19 points on 9-of-12
shooting. He's scored 17.2 per game over his last six and made 54.1 percent
from the field in his past 15.

The Bucks, one-half game behind fifth-place Washington in the Eastern
Conference, will now try to avoid a third straight road defeat as they face
the Pacific Division-worst Lakers (15-41).

Following a 1-16 stretch, Los Angeles won its second straight and snapped a
franchise-worst 11-game road skid as Clarkson had a career-high 22 points
in a 100-97 victory over Utah on Wednesday. The injury-ravaged Lakers
haven't won three in a row since Dec. 9-14.

Clarkson, a 2014 second-round draft pick, has averaged 15.0 points on 54.3
percent shooting over his last four games.

"I'm just trying to prove people wrong," he said. "I've got a chip on my
shoulder every time I step on the court."

Clarkson and Jeremy Lin will handle the point guard duties after reserve
Ronnie Price underwent season-ending elbow surgery Wednesday. Shooting
guard Nick Young, who has averaged 19.3 points in his last three meetings
with Milwaukee, could return after missing one game due to swelling in his
knee.

Los Angeles has scored 107.7 per game in the last three after averaging
93.2 over its previous 15. The Lakers also allowed their lowest point total
in eight games while forcing a season-high 21 turnovers versus Utah.

They'll try to keep playing well defensively against the Bucks, who shot
50.0 percent and hit 11 of 26 from 3-point range en route to a 113-105
overtime win over visiting Los Angeles on Feb. 4.

Giannis Antetokounmpo scored 25 and O.J. Mayo and Middleton added 21
apiece. Los Angeles forward Carlos Boozer finished with a season-high 28
points, and his 18.6 career average against the Bucks is his highest versus
any East opponent.

The Lakers have dropped four in a row and six of seven in the series.

Looks like they changed the game time to 3:30.

Decent Q1, poor Q2/Q3 and a great Q4 gets the W. 6 guys in DFs which I always
like to see and 47% vs 39% shooting advantage for a change. Q4 really made it
all happen as Lakers were a machine. 101-93 Lakers win by 7.

Lakers ended.

Michael Carter-Williams scored eight points in his second game for
Milwaukee as the starting point guard.

...yeah like a pachinko machine ;-)

the NBA is now a no talent league where the best offense is to take the
worst shot on the floor and hope for the best.
I really believe the 1990 UNLV Running Rebels could beat any of the
teams in the NBA...very sad
...don't expect the Lakers to contend again until the Time-Warner curse
is over...I'll be long gone by then.

This was not an incorrect identification. This was a misinterpretation of something where they tried to turn it into a hack job and they ended up looking foolish.

Tinordi has looked poor the last couple games. There is no point in
keeping him with the Habs if he can't keep up with the play. If
Gonchar isn't ready, Weaver is a better option than Tinordi.

Pateryn on the other hand looks to me like he is ready to stay.

And according to the Talking Heads last night, Columbus initiated the
trade talk on this deal so it seems that the Leafs gave up on their
truculence :)

Now the argument being put forth is that this is a loophole in the CBA.
Rich teams can ditch salary and bury the LTIR's money. Horton is not
getting insurance money either. He must be paid by the Leafs.

Small market teams can not afford to do this. Hard to believe that each
of these guys got 7 year deals. WOW!

Score another victory for the NHLPA.

What's so amazing/strange/awesome is that one normally considers a player
who is always getting break-a-ways as a cherry-picker to some degree who
might be sacrificing some defence to get his breaks. However, Max has the
best +/- in the league which blows that theory apart!

Max has also taken the pursuit of the captainship seriously, and I believe
he's earned it. He's been highly consistent for 4 seasons now and is still
getting better. He's on a great value contract. Show the appreciation by
giving him the captaincy.

I listened t him being interviewed between periods of a game last week
where he scored a similar goal. He said that between him and the D they
have some set plays for his breakaways. Big DUH I know but this is
practiced so it works more often then not.

Opponents will be keying on that in the playoffs.
